Ice for Brains

Apparently there is a television show called "Ice Road Truckers" airing on the History Channel. I don't know why such a program would air on that station but that's another story.

I've never watched the show but I've heard of it, and tonight starts its third season. This I assume means that a lot of people are watching it.

As near as I can tell from the commercial I witnessed yesterday, tractor trailer drivers careen down icy roads in Alaska far faster than is reasonable and try to jackknife their rigs. Do I have that right?

Most of the drivers are the beefy, bearded sort except for one little chickie who would be more at home on a beach somewhere.

I find it very hard to believe that this is the fodder of a TV hit. I don't see the attraction, but then again, I've driven on the interstate in snow storms and I always try to stay out of the way of these 18 wheelers. Wish I had thought to make a TV show out of it.
