Frozen Buffalo Wings

Pilots would have made more working at Burger King

As if we couldn't have guessed, the cause of the crash of Flight 3407 near Buffalo, NY last February was due to pilot error.

The transcript of the cockpit conversation was released this week. The pilot, Marvin Renslow, and co-pilot, Rebecca Shaw, broke any number of rules as they were preparing to land in bad weather. Apparently they were a bit surprised there was ice on their plane in Buffalo in the middle of fucking February. But whatever.

"I believe Capt. Renslow did have intentions of landing safely at Buffalo, as well as first officer Shaw, but obviously in those last few moments ... the flight instruments were not being monitored, and that's an indication of a lack of situational awareness," said John Barrett, Colgan's director of flight standards.

Yeah, I'm sure they had the best of intentions, but unfortunately if you don't know what the hell you're doing the best of intentions don't mean dick.

Get this all of you who are bitching and moaning about the economic situation: Rebecca Shaw made about $16K a year being a pilot. She did have a second job at a coffee shop or something to try to make ends meet which might be why she was exhausted, probably too exhausted to fly a plane.

Is this merely a case of you get what you pay for? Personally, I'd like the pilot of my plane to be making more than minimum wage. Just sayin'.

I'm not sure I would have gotten on the plane once seeing the co-pilot's head gear.
