Fleecing the Customer

If you haven't seen the infomercials advertising the Snuggie (pictured above) you're truly out in the cold.

Now here's something I don't believe: Scott Boilen of the Allstar Marketing Group that sells the Snuggie claims they knew these ads were 'over the top.' According to an interview with him in the NY Times: “We were definitely in on the joke,” he said. “Do we expect a family to wear these to a football game? No.”

A man named Gary Clegg devised the Slanket in 1998 according to him and he is a little bent out of shape that his idea has been stolen by the Snuggie manufacturer.

However, Sean Iannuzzi thinks that Clegg stole his idea having launched the Freedom Blanket 8 months before the Slanket hit the market.

You can get a Freedom Blanket for $24.99, a Slanket for $44.95 or the Snuggie for $19.95. The Slanket is arguably of the best quality being made from a heavier fleece.

No one is suffering. All the products are selling well having benefitted from the cult-oriented commercials.

Don't the monks from the middle ages deserve some credit too?
