According to Reuters:
Elia Enrico Richetti, chief rabbi of Venice, said Italian Jews would boycott an annual Church celebration of Judaism, set for January 17, partly because of the reintroduction last year of a prayer for the conversion of the Jews.
Yowza! This, according to Rabbi Richetti, is setting Catholic-Jewish dialogue back 50 years. I couldn't agree more. It's something Pope Pius XII would have done in World War II when he didn't do as much as he might have to try to prevent the Holocaust.
Really bad idea to keep trying to convert the people to whom you're extending the hand of friendship. Makes you look ... how do you say? Insincere.
