Wants more than cookies from ScoutsAs regular readers of this blog are aware (or should be) I am not a fan of 'scouting.' It's too good an excuse for pedophiles to get together with the children they covet.
A 17-year -old emaciated boy, dressed only in boxer shorts and covered with soot, with a chain locked around his ankle, showed up at a gym in Tracy, California pleading to be hidden from his captors. He told authorities he had been held against his will for almost a year.
It wasn't long before police arrested Kelly Layne Lau, 30, and Michael Schumacher, 34, late Monday after questioning the couple. A subsequent search of their nearby home found further evidence implicating them, said Tracy police spokesman Matt Robinson, who would not describe what officers found. I'll bet it was nasty, however.
The charming couple have been booked on charges of torture, kidnapping and child abuse and are being held on $1.2 million bail each. They are due to appear in court on Thursday in case you want to show up.
Kelly and Michael have four children of their own who have been taken into protective custody.
Kelly Lau has been serving as a Girl Scout leader since September, when a background check didn't turn up anything negative.
On Kelly's MySpace page she describes herself as a stay at home mom. That shouldn't be a surprise since that's where the victim was kept.
