There are a few people who should really stop making movies.
Meg Ryan is one of them.
Ms. Ryan isn't, dare I say it, cute any more. She's had very bad things done to her face which I think she might have made a stab at repairing, but Botox or not she needs to stop producing and starring in films.
She's got a new one coming out, "The Women," which admittedly I have not seen, nor do I plan on seeing. Then there was "My Mom's New Boyfriend" which went straight to DVD, and "Against the Ropes" wherein she appeared as a boxing promoter. I can't imagine why it didn't do well. It was so realistic.
Diane Keaton is another one who really has to give it a rest. Although it doesn't look like she's had reconstructive surgery, she is also an actress of limited gifts. Watching her in a film is like root canal without anesthesia.
You may have missed "Hanging Up" which starred both Keaton and Ryan. The only way I sat through it was because I was on a ten hour flight to Honolulu and the Fasten Seatbelt Sign was on.
Lest you all think I'm a sexist pig, let me also add Kevin Costner to my list of people who should never appear in another film ever again.
Although I understand the notoriously bad "Waterworld" actually made money, his "The Postman" certainly did not, nor should it have.
Let's keep these folks off the screen. If they want to be in the movies, they need to buy a ticket like the rest of us.

I can't help but think all American actors are bad. Of course it's not their fault. Their iconic good looks are what we want. Without the lie there is no escape. Without the escape what's the point. Insight is for losers, masochistic.
My aunt had an expression for those who annoyed her, "Don't be a pill". A pill being something distasteful. If she were honest I think she would have said, "Be a pill". That is, be something that takes my mind off the unpleasantness of the situation.
What did happen to Meg? Did she have a cute-ectomy or something?
