I open my eyes this morning and what do I see? News that a Chinese man had stabbed two relatives of a U.S. Olympic Team coach, killing one. The blade wielding attacker then committed suicide by jumping out a second story window. Second story window? Doesn't sound like he was really committed to killing himself if you ask me, although it was 130 feet up.
“They (the victims) were not wearing apparel or anything that would have specifically identified them as being members of our delegation or as Americans," a spokesman for the U.S. Olympic team told The Associated Press.
No, I'm sure you couldn't tell from their little round eyes that they weren't Asian. I guess we should be thankful that he didn't hack off their heads and start feasting on their flesh.
In other news, another "pilgrimage" gone awry. This time a bus full of Vietnamese Catholics was involved in a crash and fifteen of them were killed. They were traveling from Texas to Missouri for a festival honoring the Virgin Mary. Apparently a retreaded tire blew. Further evidence that we should all do our praying nearer to home.
As I have stated previously, I am not a big fan of the Olympics, but let me say you cannot beat them for fashion.
