Jon & Kate Plus Hate
I have a guilty pleasure.
I have taken to watching the reality television progam, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" on The Learning Channel. The only thing you should learn from this show is that no one should have fertility treatments.
Jon and Kate Gosselin got married when he was 22 and she was 24. Shortly thereafter Kate underwent fertility treatments which resulted in the birth of twin girls Cara and Madelyn. Madelyn is usually called Mady -- pronounced Maddie, because she is perennially mad.
Then, the story goes, they wanted "one more" and ended up with six kids. Three boys and three girls. A litter as it were.
Now the kids are cute even when they are screaming, punching and throwing up on the floor. Jon is half Korean and all the kids look decidedly Asian.
Once upon a time this show was on the Discovery Channel and I had never heard of it. Now I am an avid viewer. It is like watching a train wreck.
Kate wears the balls in the family which might be why she couldn't conceive without the help of medical technology.
She has the disposition of a drill sergeant with chronic constipation. Everything is her way or the highway. She is chronically exhausted and complains about it ad nauseum. Sweetheart, nobody told you to have eight kids in 3 1/2 years. Get over it and take some vitamins.
Jon bathes and dresses the kids.
Kate prepares meals and screams at anyone in her kitchen.
During each episode Jon and Kate are interviewed by the show's producer. They sit on a loveseat next to each other and Kate periodically slaps her husband. She calls them love taps. I'm sure that will stop once she knocks out his first tooth.
It seems the family gets a lot of freebies.
There was a recent episode where the ten of them, along with two friends, went skiiing in Park City, Utah.
Now most families in the real world couldn't afford such a trip, something Kate conveniently overlooked when commenting "If we can do it, anyone can."
If Kate has parents, they are never mentioned or seen. Jon's father is deceased and I have never seen his mother. One wonders where they are.
I have to applaud the Gossleins for disciplining their children, something parents seem unable to do lately.
And the show will make you appreciate your own life, assuming you do not have sextuplets.

I do watch the show every monday nite and I enjoy it, the kids are so cute, however I do feel Kate could be realy tough I feel for Jon, when they sit together on the "loveseat" and talk sometimes it looks like Jon wants to punch her. Also the time when the little ones were sick and throwing up and she put Joel in the laundry room on the FLOOR!! that was HORRIABLE. The one thing I do agree with is the signs in the front yard that I have been reading about,I would do the same thing.
I think this makes God's Top Ten List of "Things I Never Ever Intended To Happen"
