I Don't Care if it Rains or Freezes ...

My favorite thing
This is a picture of my prized possession.
It's a small ... how shall we say this ... statue portraying Jesus playing hockey with two kids.
How did I come upon this work of art?
I went to a holiday party several years ago that featured a present exchange. You brought a wrapped gift that you want to get rid of and then the guests take turns either opening new gifts or "stealing" one of the gifts another guest has already opened. But that is neither here nor there.
The minute I saw this I knew I had to have it. The fact that there was also a Last Supper battery operated clock as part of this gift was just an extra added attraction.
The people who brought these treasures had received the Jesus statue from the husband's mother who had given it to their son. What was really remarkable was that they are not very religious and their son does not play hockey.
I am dazzled by the mind that invented this scene and then designed a method so that everyone could enjoy it.
The fact that Jesus was born in the Middle East and would never in a million years have been able to conceive of hockey ... that he is skating in his long robe ... that there are two little white boys he would never have known ... who can say for sure why this delights me so?
Today I dropped this precious statue, still with its strands of hot glue attached, and broke Jesus's hockey stick. You can probably see it in the picture.
How is Jesus going to shoot to score?
I am trying to be brave about this. I could try to hot glue it back on ....

If indeed hell did freeze over - I think this is what Jesus would do.
