You can avoid television, or TIVO through commercials, but if you are held captive you may have seen these two repulsive examples of advertising.
The first is an ad for a Liquid Plumr product called Jet or something like that. In it someone in the U.S. is cleaning out their drain and the clump of hair and muck that they blast out with this fantastic product ends up on a woman's plate in a restuarant in France.
I think this is a blatant attempt to appeal to those Americans who think we should never have bailed out the French in either world war and who resent their unacceptance of our international policies.
The second commercial is for Oreo Double Stuf cookies wherein an African-American girl and an older African-American woman have a speed contest licking the innerds out of one of the cookies and then downing a glass of milk. The toothless granny waitress wins.
I don't know which is more disgusting: watching a huge hairball land at an inappropriate location in France or watching a toothless old lady lick the filling out of a cookie.
