New York Yankee Update

Here it is almost June and I have not blogged about baseball, or more specifically, the New York Yankees.

You might be wondering, if you've been out of the loop this spring, who all these people are on the team.

Well, Hideki Matsui fractured his wrist, is probably out for the year, and Brian Cashman found a Little League player named Melky Cabrera to fill in for him. The new guy is capable of hitting and can catch a ball hit to left field, but prefers to have such fly balls go over his head and then bounce around in the outfield for a while before he picks them up.

Gary Sheffield was also injured and the Yankees now have someone named Terrence Long on the roster.

Oh, and the Yankees still don't have any pitching except for Mike Mussina and occasionally Wang. Randy Johnson can't find the plate without a map any more, Jaret Wright still sucks, and Carl Pavano is out, although that may be a blessing rather than a curse.

And there still isn't anyone available to pitch from the bullpen. Even Mariano Rivera has shown he is only human.

I'm not sure what happened to Tanyon Sturtze. He may be on the DL or he may have been mauled by irate fans.

I love that name. Tanyon Sturtze. LOVE THAT NAME.

When I get the time I'm gonna write a limerick featuring a rhyme of Tanyon Sturtze and The Grand Canyon hurts.

I think Ethel Mertz would also fine a place in it.

Just don't have time to figure it out right now.
