Lost in Translation

The Dalai Lama met with Muslims in California because he believes they have been unfairly maligned.

The quote attributed to him that I read said, "A few mischievous people are always there," indicating that every religion has their share of nuts.

Maybe "mischievous" wasn't exactly the right word. I don't call hateful, murderous insurgents "mischievous" because it seems to be a gross understatement. It seems to indicate flying airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon is nothing more than a "prank," or "bad boys will be bad boys."

I've also heard that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be naming their baby a Namibian name if the child is born in Africa, because Angelina "loves Namibia."

Don't we all?

Once I was mischievous. I gave the guy next to me a hotfoot.

Then he was the first hostage I killed as I waited for the president to give into my demands.
