Perhaps you have heard by now the last sad story of a little girl who was abused by her mother and stepfather who crushed her skull and killed her.
Prior to her final beating, she was tied to a chair, forced to use a litter box and eat cat food. Although she was seven years old she weighed only 36 lbs. at her death.
There are thirty to forty of these tragedies in New York every year and somehow it is always "the authorities" who have failed.
This little girl's maternal grandmother was "furious" at them.
One is forced to ask where the hell she was while all this abuse was going on?
Can't we take responsibilites for our actions? Can't the abusers admit their guilt and take their punishment (which we hope will be swift and fair)?
Just once I want to hear one of these offenders, or one of their relatives, admit that they were wrong, that they are subhuman and deserve to receive the maximum punishment the law allows.

Thanks -- at least there is someone out there with the ability to see things clearly!
