For a number of years the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles (or whatever they're calling themselves this week) was sending stickers with registration renewals.
That was discontinued last October.
What should have been a no brainer had turned into anything but.
Two stickers (colored depending on "the year") showing a number (based on the month, i.e. 01 was January, 02 was February, and so on.)
A little picture was provided showing exactly where these numbered stickers should be affixed on one's license plate. One went on the upper right hand corner of the front plate and the second was to be placed on the upper right hand corner of the rear license plate.
Every year, when the new stickers were received, they were to be placed over the expiring stickers.
Easy, right?
Wrong.
You can still drive down Jersey streets and see the many creative, albeit wrong, ways people have used these paste-ons.
Some drivers have one on every corner of their license plates. Some have all the stickers in one place, but the wrong place nevertheless.
It seems like such a simple thing, and yet there was no end to how irritated I'd become when I'd see the latest stupid places drivers had placed their stickers.
IT WASN'T THAT HARD, PEOPLE!!!
Whether or not the NJDMV threw in the towel because of these sticker errors is unknown to me, but once the current batch of stickies fall of the plates, I will be a much happier person.
Sad, isn't it?
