This morning I applied to become an ordained minister of Universal Ministries. This is an on-line church based in Milford, Illinois.
What prompted me to apply(aside from always having had a "god" complex) is the fact that a friend has done this and is going to officiate at the marriage of his son and his son's fiancee at the end of this month.
I will need a special license to perform weddings in New York City, but in New Jersey and New York State I will be able to officiate. I haven't investigated in what other jurisdictions I can minister.
So if the pope isn't available to tie your knot you now have a viable alternative ... me.
But please do not call me Reverend Moon.

Congrats! You will be better than most ministers or the pope.
I was thinking that if all the gays in America applied for such authority then maybe if they can't marry each other than then they can officiate at a LOT of straight weddings.That would give Tom Delay something to think about.
