Do you suppose President Kennedy vowed to get the U.S. to the moon first (before the Soviets) because he thought there were good looking moon maidens waiting there?
Was there really any point in going to the moon then or now?
Is there any point in this space shuttle business other than to keep people employed in the aerospace industry? If indeed NASA is trying to justify their existence, they're going to have to do a bit better than they're doing right now.
We have one shuttle blow up on take off in 1986 and then we have another blow up trying to land in 2003.
Now you would think before they sent another one up that they would make sure they didn't have similar problems with the equipment. But no, they blast one off the other day and pieces of it fall off during take off.
Guys, I wouldn't buy a Chevy if the gas gauge didn't work. What are you thinking?
I wouldn't buy any car if the fenders fell off as soon as I accelerated.
We might want to rethink this whole enterprise before any more astronauts become cosmic dust, not to mention the tremendous capital involved.
Why don't we just send the astronauts to Vegas with a big chunka change and have them blow it at the craps tables?
Who is building these things?

When things are going bad in any given situation, "let's get out of here" is often the universal mantra.
Space travel is the best approximation of "let's get out of here".
Ultimately it fails, true, ie. the ass-tronauts return, but at least we're trying.
That's why I think the Sex Pistols were the best rock and roll band of all the time. When they said, let's get out of here, they didn't return.
