Save Me!

I like to think of myself as a free spirit, maybe with a laissez-faire attitude. I appreciate the fact that there are many more adventurous people than I on the planet.

My idea of excitement is to leave the house without my cell phone. Wild and crazy, I know.

I appreciate the fact that there are skydivers and wild river rafters, hikers and mountain climbers even though you would never find me among them.

My thought is: if it's going to take a helicopter, small plane, more than 100 people, or the Coast Guard to find you and help you when things go wrong, you probably should rethink what you're doing.

Maybe you want to climb to the top of that peak because it's there, and maybe you can afford the $65,000 to get you to the top, but when you get lost is it going to inconvenience others and put the lives of others in jeopardy?

Do you want someone to lose a life or limb because you had to ski where no one had gone before?

Give it some thought before you slap on those snowshoes next time, bubby.
