Can you remember what life was like before e-mail, cell phones and the internet? No, neither can I.
And now Earthlink is messing with me. I can't retrieve my e-mail messages. I log on and the task bar tells me how many messages I have. An annoying woman's voice will even say, "Mail truck" as if I am too inept to realize I have messages.
The problem is I can't retrieve any messages. They don't appear anywhere.
But they're there. I know there are messages I've been sent and are now floating around in some cyber garage where I can't get my hands on them.
I can get my messages if I remain logged in to my account and get them one at a time, but that's not going to work over the long haul.
"Maybe your first message is corrupt," the Earthlink maven e-mailed me. "Open the Web Mail link and yadda yadda yadda..."
Fine. I tried it and it didn't work.
The problem continues today and I have e-mailed Earthlink again. This time I got a little tougher and told them they're going to have to do something.
I don't want to have to get another internet provider and a new e-mail address, but for now I am Earthfucked.

Earthfucked. I like that. Says so much. Powerful.
The coitus seems to have been stopped. I can now receive e-mail messages.
