The Great Beyond

One can only hope, as the Pope lies near death, that we are not going to be tortured with black velvet paintings of Terri Schiavo, wearing a halo, wings and diaphonous clouds, helping him through the Pearly Gates.

And no cheesy e-mails about them, please. Especially with the addendum to forward the message to all our friends in thirteen minutes, because it took Terri thirteen days to starve to death.

And no songs to the tune of "Talking Baseball."
"The Pope died in Rome and Terri wasn't home ..."

Even though Johnnie Cochrane and Frank Perdue have also passed on, let's not have cartoons or drawings with Frank serving Johnnie fried chicken in heaven.

Let's maintain our dignity for a change, shall we? No crackers with the usual insufferable cheese. Let's try to be classy.

I agree. I'm hoping against hope that black velvet does not go with Terri and John Paul... but how about he and Terri sitting around that table playing poker with the dogs - that wouldn't be in too much of bad taste, would it?
