Both Sides Now

As I write this there are a million people standing on line in Rome/Vatican City for the opportunity to walk by the corpse of Pope John Paul II. They will be on line for 24 hours at least.

So where do they go to the bathroom? Do they sleep standing up?

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't wait on line for 24 hours to see anyone, let alone a dead person. In fact, I just don't like the idea of looking at a corpse. I don't think it's good for the viewer or the viewee. That means I wouldn't want to be the corpse that people are lining up to see either.

Nope, even if they were handing out a million tax free dollars at the end of the line I don't think I'd wait on it. I never did like waiting in line and now that I'm older I like it even less.

What a week to be a dignitary! You may have to choose between going to the Pope's funeral, attending Charles and Camilla's wedding or going to Prince Rainier's funeral.

Yeah, Prince Rainier. The guy who married Grace Kelly. He's dead too. If you read my earlier blog, Prince Schiavo, you will no doubt be thinking that the Schindlers will want to get their money back having lost their daughter and now their adopted son the prince.

Sheesh. What a week it's been.
