Michael Schiavo has petitioned an international court to have the Pope's feeding tube removed. Schiavo claimed to know that Pope John Paul II "would not want to live that way."
"He doesn't want guys holding him up at the window and waving his arm," Schiavo said. "He wants to be able to talk. In several different languages."
Schiavo has also sued the hospital where the Pope was treated and his doctor for malpractice.
Asked how he knew this, Schiavo said the Pope had told him shortly before he came down with the flu.
Not surprisingly Robert and Mary Schindler have filed a countersuit in the same court to have several more feeding tubes inserted in the Pope, "just in case one fails."

what ever happened to miracles? this being at the mercy of the vagaries of existence is not what my existential leanings were once cranked up to be. i mean for all the problems i have with the catholic church i really wouldn't mind if the pope got instantaneously better and floated down from that balcony and mingled with the masses (sans popemobile).
maybe even made his way over to Terri, took her by the hand and floated into the sunset.
if not that, at least "ooh baby baby" by smoky and the miracles would be nice. always loved that song: "i'm just about at the end of my rope, but i can't stop trying, i can't give up hope."
anyway, i'm way off track here.
moons, thanks for once again pointing out the underlying absurdities of the juxtaposition of current events. i was vaguely aware of the irony of the coincidence of the popes condition and that of terri shiavo. but you nailed it. and didn't even need a cross to accomplish the most we can hope for: awareness and it's corresponding sense of humor.
lol indeed
