I've been spending an inordinate amount of time lately listening to what people say. I'm sure I'll get over it.
What bothers me is when someone says, "So-and-so is an idiot." Now maybe So-and-so is an idiot, but all I hear is, "I'm an intolerant bitch, and I'm afraid you'll find out that I'm an idiot." It's the 'best defense is a good offense' logic.
You know the old axiom, "If you haven't got something nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all"? Well, maybe I don't buy that entirely, but if everything out of your mouth is negative something is really askew.
If you haven't figured this out yet, let me be the first to clue you in:
If people are telling you nasty things about other people, they're telling other people nasty stuff about you.
There are a lot of idiots out there, make no mistake, and you have every right to make fun of them and ridicule them. But you lose your credibility if you claim to encounter nothing but idiots every day. Unless you work in government, of course.

I guess this is one of those times I should be grateful for my low self esteem. Nothing bad anyone could say about me that I haven't written volumes about already in my head.
