I'll Take My Turf Beef Well Done

I was aware that Times Square had a naked cowboy but I did not know that is also the habitat of the Tin Man.
And these 'street performers' aren't just one big happy family. Oh, no. You're liable to get yourself messed up if you overstep your boundaries.
The Tin Man was busted for stabbing a Tour Bus driver with a screwdriver last night. Yes, Dorothy, it was a turf war.
According to a witness, the previous night the Tin Man had been in an argument with Spiderman. "He said,'You asshole, this corner is mine."

And This is a Good Idea, Because?

If people want to sit in the middle of the street on plastic lawn chairs, do they really need to be in Manhattan to do it?

According to the NY Times, which you assume would know about this:

Conceived by the city’s transportation commissioner, Janette Sadik-Khan, the plan is partly inspired by the redevelopment of downtown Copenhagen, many of whose medieval streets and plazas have been closed off to cars in the past decade.

Look, lady, Denmark is not the US and Copenhagen is not New York. Maybe they don't care if they sit in a cab for half an hour extra because you thought it was a wonderful idea to have pedestrian plazas in Times Square. And there aren't any medieval streets in Manhattan either in case you haven't noticed.

Yeah, pedestrian plazas. Freaking delightful.
