Thank God THAT'S over!

The newlyweds smooch to the delight of the rabble

You may have heard Prince William married Catherine of Middleton today in London. They make a lovely couple. Hopefully, if she bears offspring, we can get rid of that pesky gene that causes male pattern baldness.

As the saying goes, opinions are like assholes -- everybody's got one. Well, this blogger probably has several assholes since I've no shortage of opinions.

According to what I've heard and read, 80% of British citizens were against the expenditure of the equivalent of $36 millionUS for this wedding. Don't know what that translates into each taxpayer's contribution.

It seems that one out of five workers in the public sector will be getting the boot as an austerity measure. Does that also mean that 20% of the royals will need to sign up for public housing?

Back to today's spectacle.

William and Kate seem to genuinely care for one another unlike Wills' parents when they tied the knot thirty years ago. Hopefully, they'll have better luck.

Didn't care for the bride's gown. Thought it looked as if they'd recycled the curtains from Wills' nursery.

QEII did not disappoint and carried a white pocketbook. And before Memorial Day!

And of course the hats. Those freaking crazy hats. Most of them looked as if they'd been fabricated by the Whoville Milliner.

Okay, everyone get back to what you were doing. Kate and Wills are probably home in their cottage assembling their Ikea furniture just like all those other military families.

Otherwise Engaged

Things are really ramping into high gear for the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. Yesterday they announced who will be in their wedding party. Certainly we all wish them well which is why the use of the late Princess Diana's engagement ring seems a little strange to this observer.

What is it saying? I loved my mother and I love you, Kate, so I want you to wear the ring my father gave to her for their engagement?

That's not what I'm hearing. What I'm hearing is, my parents had a disastrous marriage of which my brother and I are the only good things to have come of it. The presentation to Lady Diana of this ring was only the first mistake since my dad was actually in love with another woman before, during and after his marriage to my mum.

I doubt they had to yank this ring off the finger of the deceased princess since why would she have been wearing it? Still, it smacks of bad karma.

Kate, I would have suggested they sell the ring, give the money to charity and get you a little something else from the royal vault. Or better yet, let you get something brand new.
