Another Cuppa Java

This would not be a good time to go to Indonesia since right now it's a regular shit show.

First off, Indonesia was hit by a tsunami killing 154, displacing 4000, with 400 still missing.

Then there's that pesky volcano that's been killing people on a regular basis. Mount Merapi has killed 28 so far with this eruption of ash and gas.

One of the people the angry mountain took was its spiritual guardian, Mbah Maridjan. The Javanese believe he had magical powers to keep Mount Merapi under control.

Apparently not.

Family Trees

A new tribe, called the Koroway, was discovered in Papua, New Guinea while a census was being conducted this year. That's in Indonesia where that smoking toddler lives.

There are about 3000 of these tree dwellers who survive by hunting and gathering.

Until now no one knew they existed, obviously because no one had ever looked up before.
