Who Knew Sugar Was a Vitamin?

We don't know who Federal Judge John Gleeson is, but we would like to give him a big sloppy kiss when and if we ever meet him.

Judge Gleeson has upheld a lawsuit pending against the Coca Cola Company by the Center for Science in the Public Interest because of health claims made by the manufacturer of Vitaminwater.

Sayeth he in his decision:

"In sum, plaintiffs' allegations sufficiently state a claim that defendants have violated FDA regulations by making health claims about Vitaminwater even though it does not meet required minimum nutritional thresholds, by using the word ‘healthy' in implied nutrient content claims even though Vitaminwater's fortification does not comply with FDA policy, and by using a product name that references only two of Vitaminwater's ingredients, omitting the fact that there is a key, unnamed ingredient [sugar] in the product."

That's right, kids. The Coca-Cola Company is lying to you about their product's capabilities. You are literally buying and drinking their Kool-Aid.

Hopefully the Coca-Cola Company will be forced to yank this snake oil off the market. Or at the very least, return to putting cocaine in their original Coca-Cola.
