Dr. Ali Salim of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles conducted a study on the effect of alcohol on an injured brain.
It seems that if you're drunk and suffer a brain injury (as might happen if you were driving while intoxicated) you are more likely to survive than if you'd been sober.
What a Catch-22!
If you're in a car accident you'll have a better chance of survival if you're drunk, but you might not have had the accident if you'd been sober!
Oh, Dr. Salim doesn't know why this is so except to opine that alcohol has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Hopefully he's not doing on the road testing of his hypothesis.
